Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced that loans and credit facilities offered by banks to micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) amounted to EGP 144.2 billion from January 2016 to the end of June 2019, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported.
Loans and credit facilities provided to micro-sized enterprises reached EGP 13.9 billion, while loans and credit facilities granted to small- and medium-sized enterprises totalled EGP 84.4 billion and EGP 45.9 billion, respectively.
Cairo came in the first place in terms of loans and credit facilities offered to MSMEs with EGP 45.3 billion, followed by Giza with EGP 25 billion.
At the end of March, banks pumped funding worth EGP 140 billion under the CBE’s MSME funding initiative, the CBE’s deputy governor Lobna Helal previously revealed.
