Doha – Mubasher: Loans granted by banks operate in Qatar grew 0.15% month-on-month in May, recording QAR 905.27 billion ($248.68 billion), according to a report released by the central bank.
Qatar-based banks gave QAR 881.52 billion loans in May, 2.69% up from the year-ago period.
This growth was the result of a 0.49% MoM increase in facilities granted to the Qatari private sector last month, recording QAR 553.1 billion, Qatar Central Bank’s (QCB) data showed.
Meanwhile, the public sector received QAR 331.04 billion facilities in May, 0.63% down from April.
Deposits at banks operating in Qatar declined 1.11% month-on-month to QAR 8.8 billion in May.
