Banks push QSE down Sunday

Mubasher: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) ended Sunday’s trading session in the red, pressured by the banking sector’s drop.

The general index inched down 0.25%, or 21.14 points, to 8,600 points.

The QSE’s liquidity increased to QAR 512.16 million on Sunday from QAR 396.64 million on Thursday, while the trading volume declined to 15.68 million shares against 17.17 million in the previous session.

The banking sector was the only loser falling back 0.79% after the Commercial Bank and Qatar National Bank’s sank 1.72% and 1.20%, respectively.

The industrial stock added 0.30%, spearheaded six risers, as the Investment Holding Group rose 1.54%.

While Qatar Islamic Insurance’s stock topped the bourse’s losers shedding 2.88%, while Al Khaleej Takaful Group’s stock led the winners adding 4.34%.

Vodafone Qatar, which soared 1.96%, headed the QSE’s trading volume with 5.5 million shares, generating QAR 45.9 million.
