Banks weigh on ADX amid low trades Wednesday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Wednesday in the red, pressured by a collective decline of its leading sectors.

The general index fell 0.69% or 31.67 points to 4,556.39 points. Turnover slid to AED 75.24 million from Tuesday’s AED 235 million, while traded volume retreated to 48 million shares from 194.62 million.

The banks sector was down 0.98% after First Abu Dhabi Bank dropped 1.38%, while the energy sector lost 0.94% after Dana Gas shed 1.54%.

The telecom sector and its stock Etisalat were both down 0.55%. Etisalat was the value leader on the ADX with a turnover of AED 14.6 million, while RAK Properties led in terms of volume with 18.9 million shares.

The real estate sector declined 0.37% after Eshraq Properties tumbled 2.17% on the back of its financials, while Aldar Properties lost 0.42%.
