Belgium appoints contractor for Dubai Expo 2020 pavilion

Dubai — Mubasher: Belgium has awarded a tender to the group Bemob-2020 to set up its pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020.

The six-month Expo 2020 Dubai will be held on 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021 and is expected to welcome more than 25 million visitors.

The Western European country said its pavilion “will be a real jewel of architecture and engineering” with the form of a green ark spanning several levels, Arabian Business reported on Monday.

The group, which comprises the Belgian contractors Besix and Vanhout, the design firms Assar Architects and Vincent Callebaut and scenographers from Krafthaus, will be responsible for implementing the design, construction, scenography, maintenance and decommission of the pavilion.

Along with being green on the outside, the facility, whose construction work is scheduled to complete by the end of this year, has been designed to produce more energy than it consumes, using natural light and ventilation, renewable energies and the smart use of water, according to an official statement.

The European nation’s pavilion will feature an exhibition trail, shops selling Belgian souvenirs, places to taste culinary specialties and a business centre, in addition to a brasserie with a terrace.
