Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Belgium to finance the renovation of Baron Empain Palace with EGP 16 million under the debt-for-development swap agreement.

Around 85% of the reconstruction work of the historical palace in Heliopolis has been finalised with a cost of EGP 104 million, minister of antiquities Khaled El-Anany said in a statement on Thursday.

The Indian-inspired mansion is expected to be reopened to the public later this year.
