Mubasher: Bitcoin surged to a new record high on Tuesday, surpassing the price of $6,400, according to CoinDesk.
This comes after the Chicago Mercantile (CME Group), derivatives marketplace operator, announced plans to launch a bitcoin futures product in the fourth quarter of 2017.
CME said that the futures would be settled via cash and based on its CME CF Bitcoin Reference Rate.
The cryptocurrency jumped 5.1% to $6,377.9, by 04:39 PM GMT, after crossing the level of $6,404 during today’s trade, recording its highest price ever, since it came into existence back in 2009.
Bitcoin’s total market value rose to $106.2 billion.
