Mubasher: The price of Bitcoin has continued to surge, surpassing $9,000 for the first time on Sunday.
The cryptocurrency is now trading at an all-time high of $9,062.32, which means that it has increased by around 3.5% in one day, gaining a total of nearly 18% in the last seven days, according to Coin Desk.
Bitcoin's market capitalisation is now almost $151 billion.
Bitcoin has risen more than 700% in volatile trade this year, with three separate corrections of more than 25% all giving way to subsequent rallies, with rising fears of an asset bubble, according to Investing.com.
The digital currency is still rarely used to purchase actual goods or services, making it almost entirely a vehicle for speculation, according to analysts.
