Blue-chip stocks drag DFM into red

Dubai-Mubasher: Dubai Financial Market (DFM) closed at a decline on Monday, pressured by leading stocks in the banks and real estate sectors.

The general index declined 1.31% or 41.52 points to reach 3,119.4 points.

Turnover declined to AED 228.7 million ($62.27 million) on Monday, compared to AED 432.57 million ($117.77 million) on Sunday. Trading volume fell to 249 million shares from 470.3 million shares.

The investment sector slid 2.47% as Dubai Investments and DFM Company levelled down 2.44% and 3.3%, respectively.

The real estate sector decreased 1.48%, dragged by Arabtec Holding and Emaar Properties which slumped 3.15% and 1.56% in a row.

The banks sector lost 1.44% after Dubai Islamic Bank, Emirates NBD and Amlak Finance went down 0.3%, 0.68% and 2.84, respectively.

On the flipside, the telecom sector rose 0.4% as du increased 0.4% to AED 5.08.
