Blue-chip stocks weigh on ADX Monday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Monday’s trading session in red territory, dragged down by the telecommunication and real estate sectors.

The ADX’s general index dipped 10.10 points, or 0.21%, finishing the session at 4,760.95 points.

Traded volume amounted to 65.41 million shares exchanged at a turnover of AED 179.153 million through 916 transactions, compared to 12.57 million shares exchanged at a turnover of AED 26 million through 310 transactions on Sunday.

The telecommunication sector slid 0.87% as Emirates Telecommunications Group (Etisalat) went down 0.87%, while the real estate sector shed 0.53%, pressured by Al Dar Properties, which fell 0.49%.

Similarly, the energy segment slipped 0.11%, dragged down by Dana Gas, which lost 0.93%, while the banking sector inched down 0.06%.

On the other hand, the investment sector rose 2.12% on the back of Waha Capital, which added 2.31%.

Moreover, ADNOC Distribution’s stock topped trading with AED 83.68 million through 33.07 million shares.
