Blue chips boost EGX30 up 1% early Tuesday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Tuesday’s trading session on a positive note, backed by Egyptian and foreign buying.

By 10:32 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index went up 1.03% or 133.61 points to the level of 13,147.34 points.

The EGX70 index tumbled 0.35% to 692.92 points, while the EGX100 index inched down 0.06% to 1,562.53 points.

The equally-weighted EGX50 index ascended 0.54% to 2,019 points.

Trading volume reached 33.3 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 80.35 million through 1,900 transactions.

Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 908,600 and EGP 2.3 million, respectively, while Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 3.2 million.

Blue chips Citadel Capital, Telecom Egypt, and Egyptian Iron and Steel (HADISOLB) rose 4.27%, 2.58%, and 2.21%, respectively.

On the other hand, Egyptian Resorts Co, Egyptian Financial and Industrial (EFIC), and Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals slipped 0.98%, 0.6%, and 0.43%, respectively.

Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) gained 1.25% to EGP 82.7 per share.
