Blue chips push EGX30 above 16,300 pts early Thursday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened Thursday, the last trading session in June 2018, on a mixed note.

By 10:24 am Cairo time, the benchmark EGX30 index added 144.43 points, or 0.89%, to 16,320.84 points on the back of rising blue-chip stocks.

The small- and mid-cap index EGX70 slipped 0.44% to 793.28 points, while the broader EGX100 index edged up 0.22% to 2,038 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 0.56% to 2,731 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 32.46 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 167.47 million through 3,020 transactions.

Most of the blue-chip stocks started the session up, including Global Telecom and Amer Group, which rose 5.11% and 3.23%, respectively.

On the other hand, Ezz Steel was the only loser with 1.59%.

Arab investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 1.3 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 852,500 and EGP 477,300, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) went up 0.29% to EGP 85.269, with a turnover of EGP 1,100.
