Blue chips push QSE higher at close

Doha – Mubasher: The benchmark index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) rose at Tuesday’s close by 0.21% or 21.24 points to the level of 9,985.26 points.

Trading volume decreased to 8.93 million shares from 10.7 million shares exchanged on Monday, turnover also declined to QAR 318.8 million from QAR 481.6 million.

The index was backed by the rise in some blue chips as QNB leapt 0.32%, Ezdan Holding advanced 0.06% and Industries Qatar led the green list by adding 1.91%.

The telecom sector levelled up 0.61%, backed by the rise in Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar by 0.55% and 0.87% respectively. The latter made the highest trading volume activity of 2.28 million shares.

The industrial sector grew 0.37% as Aamal leapt 0.69%, while Qatari Investors led losers after falling by 4.17%. The stock made the highest turnover of QAR 89.6 million.

The insurance and banking sectors rose by 0.37% and 0.07% respectively.

Meanwhile, the transportation sector declined 0.39%, the real estate sector dropped 0.32% and the consumer goods sector slid 0.01%.
