Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market’s (DFM) general index rose 0.74% or 20.8 points to close at 28,15.60 points on Tuesday, supported by blue-chip stocks particularly the real estate sector.
The transportation sector was the top gainer, rising 2.46% after Gulf Navigation gained 3.7% to AED 1.12, Aramex upped 3.4% at AED 4.25 and Air Arabia jumped 0.98%.
The investment sector gained 1.74% after DFM Company and Dubai Investment gaining 4.32% and 1.25%, respectively.
The banks sector gained 0.94% after the heavyweight Emirates NBD soared 2.09% to AED9.3.
The telecommunication sector and its only stock Du added 0.61%, each.
The real estate sector jumped 0.24% after Arabtec Holding, Emaar Malls and Drake &Scull rose 8.13%, 4.35% and 0.78%, respectively, while Emaar Properties fell 0.19%.
On the other hand, the consumer staples sector fell 1.75% after DXB Entertainments tumbled 1.94% to AED 0.353.
The insurance sector also fell 1.01% after Dar Al Takaful shed 0.17% to AED 0.584.
The DFM’s trading volume jumped to 250.53 million shares exchanged at a turnover of AED 363.36 million.
