Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange started Wednesday on a higher note as the benchmark index EGX30 added 248 points or 2.34% to 10,889 points by 10:30am CLT.
Blue-chip stocks backed the early positive performance, including CIB, Global Telecom, Amer Group, Juhayna, Hermes, Qalaa, Elsewedy, Oriental Weavers, GB Auto, Palm Hills, and OTMT after rising with a 1-10.3% range at open.
Meanwhile, Beltone and Credit Agricole were lower by 0.07% and 0.03%, respectively.
The small and mid-cap index rose 1.55% to 426 points.
The broader index EGX100 increased 1.48% to 1,004 points and the equal-weighted index EGX50 was higher 3% to 1,740 points.
Foreigners were net buyers by EGP 19.8 million, while Nationals and Arabs were net sellers by EGP 38,000 and EGP 19.7 million respectively.
Trading value reached EGP 470.7 million after 196.9 million shares were traded.
Madinet Nasr Housing and Development was the most active stock in terms of value as achieving EGP 50 million for 3 million shares. The stock quote was 6.34% up.
In terms of volume, OTMT was the top after 46 million shares worth EGP 55.7 million were traded and the stock quote rose above 10%.
