Borouge to expand in China’s automotive sector

Mubasher: Borouge, the jointly-owned by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Austria’s Borealis on Tuesday unveiled a plan to increase its Chinese polymer compounding capacity.

This plan aimed at meeting the increasing needs of advanced polymers, especially from the automotive sector, according to a company statement.

Borouge plans to raise its current annual polymer compounding’s capacity from 90,000 tonnes to 125,000 tonnes by 2020, the UAE-based company revealed.

In Borouge, we focus on smart growth; therefore, we decided to launch this capacity expansion plan, said the company’s CEO Wim Roels.

As China began to expand in Electric Vehicles (EV) industry, the market will require more effective and practical material solutions to build these vehicles, Roels added.
