Boursa Kuwait closes Monday on mixed note

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait closed Monday’s trades on a mixed note.

The price index went up 0.23%, or 14.34 points, to 6,370.24 points for the fifth session in a row.

Meanwhile, the weighted index lost 0.14%, bucking the upward trend for four consecutive sessions. The Kuwait-15 index dropped 0.18% for the second time in a row.

By the end of Monday’s session, five sectors grew, topped by the insurance and real estate sectors which added 1.4% and 1.32%, respectively. Real Estate Assets Management Company (REAM) rose 20%.

The telecommunication sector led the losers with 1.62%, weighed down by Kuwait telecom company (VIVA) and Zain which shed 3% and 1.85%, respectively.

Similarly, Afaq Educational Services slid 20% to 92.2 fils.

The Boursa Kuwait’s liquidity shrank 35.4% to KWD 7.3 million on Monday compared to KWD 11.3 million on Sunday, while the trading volume tumbled 41.3% to 51.6 million shares from 87.87 million in the previous session.

Zain recorded the highest liquidity of KWD 2.27 million, whereas Ajwan Gulf Real Estate, which sank 1.23%, topped the bourse in terms of trading volume with 9.09 million shares.
