Boursa Kuwait closes Sunday down for 2nd time in row; liquidity falls 43%

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait fell by the end of Sunday’s trading session, as the All-share Market levelled down by 0.29% to close at the level of 5,696.1 points after losing 16.4 points. The Main and Premier markets also inched down by 0.05% and 0.37%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the bourse’s turnover fell by 42.6% to KWD 14.75 million from KWD 25.69 million on Thursday, 26 September. The trading volume slid by 29.7% to 81.64 million shares from 116.06 million.

A group of six sectors retreated, led by the oil and gas with 4.26%, while a group of three sectors rose, led by the insurance with 0.88%.

Kuwait and Middle East Financial Investment Company (KMEFIC) headed the fallers with approximately 14%, while Warba Insurance topped the risers with 9.6% at 68.5 fils after earning 6 fils, after around 25,500 shares were exchanged through three transactions at a total value of about KWD 1,740.

Gulf Bank of Kuwait (GBK), down 0.71%, led the trading activity with KWD 2.62 million, while Arzan Financial Group for Financing and Investment, up 2.3%, was the most active stock through the exchange of 9.54 million shares.

A state of stock liquidation was seen on some blue chips in the Premier Market particularly on GBK and the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), capital market analyst Mostafa Al Jarhi told Mubasher.

As the monthly performance ends on Monday, 30 September, Al Jarhi expected another low performance for the third time in a row, noting that the All-Share Index is currently moving upwardly to the support level at 5,685, after reaching the level at 5,700 points in today’s session.
