Boursa Kuwait closes Thursday mixed

Mubasher: Boursa Kuwait's indices saw a mixed performance at Thursday's close after its main price index levelled up 0.24% or 15.83 points to 6,651.91 points, whereas the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices edged down 0.08% and 0.14%, respectively.

The telecommunications sector increased 2.13% as The National Mobile Telecommunications’ (Ooredoo Kuwait) stock went up 6.21%, whereas Mobile Telecommunications’ (Zain) stock decreased 1.03%.

On the flipside, the oil and gas sector shed 0.45% after the stocks of Independent Petroleum Group (IPG) and Gulf Petroleum Investment (PetroGulf) declined 2.44% and 0.87%, respectively.

KAMCO Investment Company’s stock topped Boursa Kuwait’s gainers after jumping 12%, whereas Sharjah Cement and Industrial Development Company’s (SCIDC) was the worst performer with 11.65%.

The bourse’s liquidity surged 33.6% to KWD 14.23 million on Thursday, compared to KWD 10.65 million on Wednesday, while trading volume grew 14% to 109.22 million shares, from 95.81 million.

Al Imtiaz Investment Group’s stock, which fell 4.4%, was the most active in terms of traded volume after 11.58 million shares were exchanged, whereas The National Bank of Kuwait’s (NBK) stock, which sagged 0.26%, led the market in terms of liquidity, generating KWD 2.45 million.
