Mubasher: The benchmark price index of Boursa Kuwait closed Tuesday’s trading session 0.2% or 13.8 points higher at 6,770.3 points.
Similarly, both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices went up 0.67% and 0.68%, respectively.
Boursa Kuwait usually registers active trading when resuming after holidays; the indices opened Tuesday’s session in the green zone, capital market analyst Badar Al Badr told Mubasher.
Investors’ sentiments were positively impacted by the good income statements as well as the generous cash dividends for fiscal year 2017, the analyst added.
The price index showed positivity in the recent period and started to hold above 6,700 points to target the level 6,800 points, which is expected to be reached on Wednesday and Thursday, the analyst noted.
Financial services segment topped four gainers with 0.75%, backed by GFH with 10.3%.
The industrial sector also added 0.5% in line with the 20% surge of UPAC which topped the winners.
Meanwhile, the banking segment led seven decliners with 0.73%, dragged by Ithmaar which lost 15.9% to led losers, yet was the most active stock on which 14.65 million shares were traded.
Boursa Kuwait’s turnover increased by 39.6% to KWD 14.74 million on Tuesday compared to KWD 10.56 million on Thursday; the stock market was closed on Sunday and Monday on the occasion of the national and liberation holiday.
Trading volume grew by 56.5% to 78.3 million shares from 50.02 million in the previous session.
Ahli United Bank (AUB) posted the highest trading value of KWD 2.21 million.
