Boursa Kuwait closes Tuesday in red amid higher liquidity

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait closed Tuesday’s trading session with a grouped decrease; the benchmark price index lost 0.17 to 6,805.74 points.

Similarly, both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices edged down 0.2% and 0.03%, respectively.

Boursa Kuwait needs new catalysts in line with the investors awaiting the results of FTSE Company’s meeting to consider the firms which will join the index, the deputy head of the research unit at KAMCO, Raed Diab, told Mubasher.

The main price index should exceed the level 6,833 points to register further gains at 6,940 points, Diab added.

Technology companies led six decliners with 7%, dragged by Automated Systems which lost 20% to be the top loser.

The banking segment also went down 0.75% in line with the 0.6% retreat of Ithmaar.

Meanwhile, the insurance sector topped five gainers with 1.6%, backed by Warba and Wethaq which rose by 10% and 9.4%, respectively.

Boursa Kuwait’s trading value increased by 37.1% to KWD 12.49 million on Tuesday compared to KWD 9.11 million in the previous session after the trading volume grew by 2.5% to 65.48 million shares from 63.89 million.

The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) recorded the highest turnover of KWD 2.87 million. The stock went up 0.39%.

Ithmaar was the most active stock on which 9.5 million shares were exchanged at a total value of nearly KWD 361,700.
