Boursa Kuwait closes Wednesday down amid higher liquidity

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait closed Wednesday’s session in the red for the third session in a row; the benchmark price index went down 0.28% or 18.75 points to 6,686.94 points.

Similarly, both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices went down 0.16% and 0.24%, respectively.

Insurance companies led eight decliners with 1.75%, dragged lower by First Takaful which lost 19.8% to be the top loser.

Meanwhile, the basic material sector topped three gainers with 1.4%, followed by telecom companies which added 0.48% in line with the rise of Viva and Ooredoo Kuwait with 1.16% and 0.2%, respectively.

Boursa Kuwait’s trading value increase by 40.5% to KWD 12.46 million on Wednesday compared to KWD 8.87 million in the previous session after the trading volume grew by 11% to 47.86 million shares from 43.1 million.

The National Bank of Kuwait's (NBK) stock, which went down 0.26%, posted the highest turnover of KWD 3.01 million.

Ajwan was the most active stock adding 0.93% after 5.13 million shares were traded.
