Boursa Kuwait closes Wednesday in red amid lower liquidity

Mubasher: The benchmark price index of Boursa Kuwait edged up 0.04% or 2.53 points to close Wednesday’s session at 6,772.83 points.

Similarly, both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices rose by 0.26% and 0.31%, respectively.

Boursa Kuwait’s price index continues to register new levels during speculations on cheap stocks in line with selective purchasing transactions on blue chips, namely the banking sector, deputy head of the investment research unit at KAMCO, Raed Diab, told Mubasher.

It is expected for Boursa Kuwait to register volatility in the coming period in line with launching the second phase of developing the Kuwaiti stock market, Diab added.

Telecom companies topped seven gainers with 2%, backed by Viva which added 3%.

Meanwhile, the industrial segment led four decliners with 1.04%, dragged by Real Estate Trade Centers (Marakez) which lost 13.4%.

Burgan Drilling was the top winner with a gain of 19.9%.

Boursa Kuwait’s turnover shrank by 16.6% to KWD 12.29 million on Wednesday compared to KWD 14.74 million on Tuesday, after the trading volume decreased by 17.3% to 67.13 million shares from 78.3 million.

Zain posted the highest trading value of KWD 1.78 million. The stock added 1.06%.

Ithmaar was the most active stock on which 12.13 million shares were exchanged. The stock went up 3.9%.
