Mubasher: Boursa Kuwait indices commenced 2018 on a low note, closing Tuesday in the red after the price index retreated 1.5% or 95.5 points to 6,312.52 points, while the weighted and Kuwait 15 indices slipped 0.25% each.
Seven sectors were down, led by the industrial sector with 4.8% after Nafais Holding led fallers, plunging 19.9%.
The telecom sector shed 0.59% after Ooredoo and Ann Digital declined 3.15% and 2.44%, respectively.
On the positive side, three sectors ended the session up, led by consumer staples with 2.32%, followed by banks with 0.7% after Ithmaar surged 9% and was the most actively traded on the bourse.
Boursa Kuwait’s turnover dropped 44.5% to KWD 5.59 million on Tuesday, compared to KWD 10.07 million on Thursday, the last trading session before the New Year holidays, while traded volume fell 34.3% to 59.24 million shares against 90.19 million.
Ithmaar’s stock was the most active in terms of value and volume with KWD 1.5 million and 33.43 million shares exchanged through 609 transactions.
