Boursa Kuwait falls in February 1st week amid lower liquidity

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait registered a grouped decline in the first week of February; the benchmark price index decreased by 0.46% or 30.7 points to reach 6,654.55 points by the week ended on 8 February compared to 6,685.23 points in the prior week.

The weighted index dropped 0.61% or 2.52 points to 410.3 points this week, and the Kuwait-15 index levelled down by 0.12% or 1.16 points to 942.42 points.

The main index of the stock market is still heading in a positive direction despite selling pressures, capital market analyst Hassan Al Kandry told Mubasher.

The price index is moving in a fluctuation range from 6,570 points to 6,555 points, with a resistance at 6,715 points, the analyst added.

Boursa Kuwait's trading value shrank by 10.7% to KWD 68.08 million this week compared to KWD 76.28 million in the past week.

The trading volume decreased by 15.6% to 472.64 million shares from 560.1 million a week ago.

Transactions totaled about 18,530 this week, 13.9% lower than around 21,510 in the previous week.

Market cap declined by 0.57% or KWD 160 million ($534.57 million) to KWD 27.87 billion ($93.12 billion) this week from KWD 28.03 billion ($93.65 billion last week.
