Boursa Kuwait indexes fall at Monday’s open

Kuwait – Mubasher: Boursa Kuwait saw a bearish performance in Monday’s early trades, weighed down by the fall of five sectors led by the consumer staples sector.

The benchmark price index retreated 0.12% or 8.61 points to 6,641.05 points by 11:00 am Kuwaiti time, while the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices declined 0.18% and 0.27%, respectively.

The consumer staples sector led losers with a 0.81% decline as Zima Holding and Alrai Media Group fell 7.55% and 4.69%, respectively.

The financial services sector declined 0.16% as Asiya Capital Investments Co. went down 6.25%.

On the other hand, the oil and gas sector led gainers with a 0.28% rise as National Petroleum Services (Napesco) grew 0.66%.

Sharjah Cement was the worst performer with a 9.09% decline, while Al Madar Finance and Investment topped gainers after adding 20%.

Liquidity reached KWD 1.6 million after trading 8.2 million shares through 274 transactions.

Abyaar Real Estate Development was the most active stock after trading 2.7 million shares, while National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) was the value leader after generating KWD 608,600.
