Boursa Kuwait indices close Monday mixed

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait closed Monday’s session with a mixed performance; the benchmark price index went up 0.66% or 43.84 points to 6,672.95 points.

Meanwhile, both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices retreated by 0.03% and 0.35%, respectively.

Boursa Kuwait is currently in a state of speculations, with the price index exceeding the level 6,600, capital market analyst Badar Al Badr told Mubasher.

The performance of both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices is expected to improve in the last two sessions in January, the analyst noted.

Telecom companies led five decliners with 1.3%, dragged by Viva which lost 2.33%, while the leading stock Zain gained 0.21%.

Meanwhile, the real estate segment topped seven gainers with 2.3% in line with the 20% growth of Real Estate Asset Management (REAM) which was the top winner.

The banking sector added 1.2%, backed by Ithmaar which rose by 12.36%, following the announcement of the stock listing on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).

Boursa Kuwait’s turnover increased by 30.8% to KWD 18.37 million on Monday compared to KWD 14.04 million in the previous session after the trading volume increased by 27.9% to 134.94 million shares from 105.51 million.

Kuwait Finance House (KFH) posted the highest liquidity of KWD 5.06 million.

Ithmaar was the most active stock on which 42.92 million shares were traded at a value of KWD 2.5 million.
