Mubasher: The benchmark price index of Boursa Kuwait closed Wednesday’s trading session 0.36% or 23.8 points higher at 6,678.81 points, while both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices retreated 0.68% and 0.96%, respectively.
The general performance of Boursa Kuwait remains positive, especially the naming sector which registered a decline in provisions in addition to a gradual rise in profits, deputy head of the research department at KAMCO Raed Diab told Mubasher.
The restructuring of the securities exchange as well as the increase in oil prices are included in the positive factors that recently impacted Boursa Kuwait’s performance, Diab added.
The banking segment led seven decliners with 1.8%, dragged by Ithmaar which lost 10.32%.
Meanwhile, real estate companies topped five gainers with 2.6%, backed by Real Estate Asset Management (REAM) which rose by 17.23% to be the top winner.
Boursa Kuwait’s liquidity shrank by 15.1% to KWD 15.44 million on Wednesday compared to KWD 18.18 million in the previous session after the trading volume decreased by 20.7% to 107.55 million shares from 135.63 million.
Kuwait Finance House (KFH) posted the highest turnover of KWD 3.38 million.
Ithmaar was the most active stock on which 18.82 million shares were exchanged.
