Boursa Kuwait indices end Tuesday down amid lower liquidity

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait closed Tuesday’s trading session in decline for the third session in a row after the market segmentation started on Sunday, 1 April.

The Premier Market index retreated by 1.2%, the Main Market index edged down 0.52%, and the All-Share Market index went down 0.95% or 46.65 points to 4,846.22 points.

The consumer goods segment led the decliners with 5.13%, dragged by Kuwait Food – Americana which lost 8.1%.

Meanwhile, telecom companies topped the gainers with 0.46%, backed by Ooredoo which rose by 13.4%.

Boursa Kuwait’s turnover shrank by 7.6% to KWD 12.94 million on Tuesday compared to KWD 14 million in the previous session after the trading volume grew by 11.7% to 52.86 million shares from 47.32 million.

The Premier Market’s liquidity stood at KWD 9.63 million that represented more than 74% of the total turnover, while the Main Market registered KWD 3.31 million liquidity.

The National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) was the most active stock, in the Premier Market, with 3.73 million shares traded at a value of KWD 2.69 million. The stock went down 0.69%.

In the Main Market, HEISCO, which added 8.42%, posted the highest liquidity of nearly KWD 694,360, while Jiyad, which gained 1.92%, was the most active stock on which 5.1 million shares were traded.
