Boursa Kuwait indices mark 3rd successive loss

Kuwait – Mubasher: Boursa Kuwait’s indices closed Sunday, the first trading session of the week and the month of Ramadan, on a negative note, registering their third decline in a row.

The benchmark price index fell 0.57% or 37.87 points to 6,649.66 points, while the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices shed 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively.

Six sectors were down, led by oil and gas with 1.93%, while banks and industrials shed 0.56% and 0.53%, respectively.

On the other hand, the technology sector led risers, adding 3.62%, followed by basic materials and telecoms with 1.2% and 0.83%, respectively. Moreover, the insurance and consumer staples sectors increased 0.17% and 0.11%, respectively.

Energy House topped losers, sliding 16.28%, whereas Gulf Franchising Holding led gainers, surging 18.4%.

Turnover grew on Sunday to KWD 13.51 million compared to Thursday’s KWD 10.44 million, while traded volume declined to 72.45 million shares from 102.73 million.

Bayan Investment’s stock, down 14%, was the most active in terms of volume with 17.08 million shares exchanged, while Agility, up 6.15%, was the top performer in terms of value with KWD 5.57 million after the stock resumed trading earlier in the session.
