Boursa Kuwait's indices end April on positive note

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait showed positive performance by the end of April 2020 as the All-Share Market Index grew by 3.17% or 152.68 points, reaching 4,975.39 points from 4,822.71 points a month earlier.

The Premier Market settled higher by 3.03% or 157.59 points in April, finishing at 5,356.25 points when compared to 5,198.66 points.

The Main Market closed the month at 4,226.44 points, up by 3.51% or 143.33 points from 4,083.11 points in March.

The BK 50 Index soared by 4.73% or 189 points to stand at 4,187.27 points from 3,998.27 points.

Low trade on all levels

Over April, the trading volume plunged by 21.3% to stand at 3.17 billion shares from 4.04 billion by March-end.

Moreover, the liquidity totalled KWD 747.37 million in April, compared with KWD 986.82 million, posting a 24.3% monthly drop.

The number of monthly concluded transactions was down by 26.6% to 175,590 from 239,290.  

Market cap value rises 3.2% monthly

Boursa Kuwait’s market cap value amounted to KWD 28.35 billion ($91.75 billion) in April, compared to KWD 27.48 billion ($88.93 billion) a month earlier, achieving higher monthly gains by 3.2% at KWD 870 million ($2.82 billion).

Year-to-date (YTD), Boursa Kuwait suffered KWD 7.29 billion worth of losses, down by 20.5% from KWD 35.64 billion by the end of 2019.
