Kuwait – Mubasher: The three indices of Boursa Kuwait ended the year with mixed performance; the price index was in green, while both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices closed in the red zone.
The price index ended 2.37% or 133 points to reach 5,748.09 points by the end of 2016, compared with 5,615.12 points by the end of 2015.
Meanwhile, both the weighted and Kuwait-15 indices lost 1.61% and 15.4% respectively.
During 2016, the stock market saw 247 trading sessions; the price index rose in 124, fell in 120, and remained unchanged in 3 sessions; the weighted index rose in 120 sessions, lost in 126, and remained unchanged in one session; Kuwait-15 index rose in 118 sessions, fell in 126, and remained unchanged in three sessions.
Bourse Kuwait’s liquidity stood at KWD 2.85 billion ($9.29 billion) over 2016, with trading volume reaching 30.18 billion shares that were traded through about 708,820 transactions.
Market cap increased by 0.38% or KWD 100 million year-on-year to total KWD 26.26 billion ($85.58 billion) by the end of 2016 when compared to KWD 26.16 billion by the end of 2015.
On a monthly basis, the indices saw a grouped rise during December in line with liquidity reaching KWD 321.49 million that was generated by 3.59 billion shares traded through nearly 75,590.
