Boursa Kuwait’s indices show mixed performance in week

Mubasher: The indices of Boursa Kuwait saw mixed performance during the week after MSCI’s upgrade of Kuwait to an Emerging Market status.

Market capitalisation rose to KWD 33.55 billion over the week, rising 1.42% in May.

The All-Share Market inched down 4.62 points, or 0.08%, to reach 5,812.65 points this week. The Premier Market declined by 8.28 points, or 0.13%, to close at 6,358.72 points this week.

Meanwhile, the Main Market edged up 3 points, or 0.06%, to 4,744.35 points.

Liquidity surged 26.3% to reach KWD 201 million from KWD 159.18 million. The trading volume added 1.6% to 672.05 million shares in a week from 661.44 million shares a week earlier.

Market capitalisation surged 15.7% or KWD 4.54 billion in a year, compared KWD 29.01 billion a year earlier.

On Wednesday, a report by KAMCO Research revealed that MSCI’s upgrade of Kuwait to an Emerging Market status was expected to attract $2.2 billion in investments to the GCC country.
