Brazil's BRF continues meat export to KSA – Agency

Riyadh – Mubasher: Brazil's BRF said that it is still exporting meat to Saudi Arabia.

The announcement came after the Kingdom banned beef and poultry imports from four Brazilian firms, following accusations that bribery in Brazil allowed sales of rotten and salmonella-tainted meats, Reuters reported on Sunday.

The spokeswomen of the Brazilian company told Reuters that only one of the firm’s plants was covered by the order, without specifying the volume of exports affected.

"All other factories, including the plants that export to Saudi Arabia, remain functional," the news agency quoted the company.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) banned importing beef and poultry and their products from four Brazilian companies.

Lately, the Brazilian police accused more than 100 people, mostly from health inspectors, of taking bribes to allow selling spoiled products, not checking export documents, or failing to inspect meatpacking plants.
