Mubasher: Brazil’s construction material exports to the Arab World increased in 2016 by 2.15% year-on-year to $24.87 million, the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) said Tuesday.
The UAE topped importers of Brazilian construction materials in 2016 with $15.69 million recorded for the year alone so far, reflecting the strong trade relations between Brazil and the UAE, according to a statement.
The Arab World has recorded an impressive growth in Brazilian exports between 2015 and 2016, with the UAE leading with a 15.21% rise and a share of 63.08%. Saudi Arabia came second, followed by Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen.
Yemen registered the highest percentage of growth from 2015 at 452%, followed by Bahrain at 231.88%, Oman at 94.89 %, then Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the statement noted.
“The UAE and Brazil have continued to enjoy strong trade relations over the years,” Michel Alaby, ABCC’s Secretary-General and CEO, said.
This has helped facilitate the export of top-quality materials Brazil has been known for, which in turn fuels the Arab World’s ambitious expansion in the form of innovative and pioneering real-estate projects. With many developments on the horizon, the Big 5 event is the ideal platform to showcase the specialties of Brazilian construction companies and how these can benefit the region’s growing construction sector,” Alaby added.
