CAPMAS: Egypt's inflation rises 1.4% in March

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s consumer price index rose by 1.4% to 180 points in March, said Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Meanwhile, the same index went up to 177.4 points in February from 175.5 points in January, higher 1.1%, said CAPMAS.

The rise in Inflation is mainly ascribed to increasing prices of rice, poultry and meat products, medicines, fast foods, vegetables, fish and seafood, fruits, as well as tea, CAPMAS said.

On the other hand, egg prices fell by 3.3%, CAPMAS added.

Egypt's annual inflation rate fell by 9.2% in March 2016, compared to 9.5% in February and 10.7% in January 2016, CAPMAS said.
