Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s trade balance deficit declined in February 22% year-over-year to EGP 23.4 billion from EGP 30 billion, said the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Further, export value stood at EGP 12.8 billion in February, inching up 0.6% year-on-year from EGP 12.7 billion for the year-ago period, CAPMAS added.
Meanwhile during July - February 2015/16, export value declined 24% year-over-year to $13.2 billion from $17.4 billion, said a first-hand official, who preferred to be anonymous, at the Egyptian Customs Authority.
In February as well, CAPMAS reported an import value of EGP 36.1 billion, down 15.3% from EGP 42.6 billion for the year-ago month.
Earlier, the head of Customs Authority, Magdy Abdel-Aziz, said trade deficit in the first half of 2015/16 edged down 1% year-over-year from $27.7 billion to $27.5 billion,
