CBB governor says no change in dinar exchange policy

Mubasher: Bahrain’s currency exchange policy is not changed and the dinar will continue to be pegged to the U.S. dollar, said Rasheed Al Maraj, governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB),  on Tuesday

On the sidelines of Euromoney 2016 held in Manama, Al Maraj told reporters that Bahrain's credit rating downgrade by S&P to ‘BB’ from ‘BBB-‘ is an unacceptable surprise, Bahrain News Agency reported.

The rating downgrade took place at a time the sultanate tried to issue  bonds worth nearly $500 million, which forced  the central bank to postpone the bond issuance.

Al Maraj said oil price decline is not an issue of concern, but it is an opportunity to restructure the national economy
