CBE, EGX announce 23 July holiday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced that banks will be closed on Thursday, 23 July, on the occasion of the 23 July 1952 revolution.

Banks will be reopened on Sunday, 26 July, the CBE said in a statement on Tuesday.

In addition, the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) said that trading will be halted on Thursday and resumed on Sunday.  

The Egyptian prime minister Mostafa Madbouly decided that 23 July will be a paid day-off for state employees in observance of the 1952 revolution.

Private business owners can make employees work on this day with a double payment, the minister of manpower Mohamed Saafan said.
