Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) board of directors is considering reopening licencing of international banks’ branches to operate in the Egyptian market within the coming period.
This step will boost investor confidence in the Egyptian economy and banking sector, state-run news agency MENA reported, citing an official source at the bank.
This will also help the sector to compete with major global expertise, the source said.
Several international banks are seeking to operate in Egypt, he added, pointing out that this will create the largest base of traders with the Egyptian banking sector.
