Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has reimbursed its last deposit of $1.2 billion for the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), chairman of the Cairo-based lender said.
The CBE has repaid the deposit in the first week of December, Benedict Oramah told reporters.
The Egyptian central bank had obtained a $3.2 billion in deposit from the Afreximbank and reimbursed $2 billion of it last November.
Oramah noted that Afreximbank has raised around $2.7 billion in financing for Egypt.
The facility will be invested in a number of projects, mainly construction and equipment, he indicated.
