CBE sells EGP 10.6bn T-bills amid higher yields

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) sold treasury bills (T-bills) worth EGP 10.61 billion in an auction on Sunday, less than the target of EGP 20.5 billion.

The CBE sold 182-day notes for EGP 111.12 million, less than the target of EGP 10 billion, at an average yield of 14.31%, compared to 14.32% in the latest auction held on 10 March for T-bills with the same maturity, according to the CBE’s official website.

Egypt received 115 offers for 182-day notes valued at EGP 9.52 billion with an average yield of 15.3%.

Moreover, the sale also included 364-day notes valued at EGP 10.5 billion as targeted at an average yield of 14.71%, compared to 14.08% in a previous auction held on 3 March for T-bills with the same maturity.

The central bank received 195 offers for 364-day notes worth EGP 14.32 billion, at an average yield of 14.93%.
