Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) approved to allow banks to include their equity investments in funds focused on small-and-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) within the minimum requirement of their SME loan portfolios, according to a statement.
The CBE compelled banks operating in Egypt to allocate 20% of their loan portfolios to SMEs, the statement added.
The relative risk of banks’ investments in these equity funds has been set at 0%, the statement added.
