CBUAE instructs banks to report cyberattacks

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has commissioned banks operating in the nation to report any cyberattacks, said Thabet Bakheet Khamis, head of the central bank's information security division, on Tuesday.

Under the UAE’s laws, banks must exchange information related to cyberattacks with the CBUAE, without disclosing information of their clients, in order to notify other banks to take the necessary measures to protect themselves, Khamis added, according to Al-Ittihad newspaper.

The exchange of cyberattack-related information helps maintain clients’ information secure, Khamis remarked, noting that all banks should activate their information security plans, Al-Ittihad reported.
