CEO: 40% of Umm Al Houl station completed

Doha- Mubasher: The CEO of Umm Al Houl power station Jamal Al-Khalaf announced that 40% of the plant’s works have been accomplished.

A subsidiary of Qatar Water and Electricity Co. (QWEC), the plant is expected to produce 2,520 megawatts of electricity and 136 million gallons of drinkable water per day, said Al-Khalaf in the company’s statement.

He added that Umm Al Houl is one of the biggest power and desalination stations in the region. It does not depend on gaseous emissions, which makes it  an eco-power plant.

More than 7,500 employees are working on-site, according to the statement.

In mid-April, Al-Khalaf pointed out that the QAR 11 billion project was 33% complete. This figure, represents the main loan for the implementation of all phases of the plant.
