CIB pushes EGX near 17,000 pts at Tuesday close

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session in green territory near 17,000 points on the back of foreign buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index edged up 246.91 points, or 1.47%, closing at 16,989.06 points, backed by the Commercial International Bank (CIB).

The heavyweight CIB jumped 2.22% to EGP 88.8 at a turnover of EGP 130.2 million.

The small- and medium-cap EGX70 index levelled up 0.57% to 910.43 points, while the broader EGX100 index leaped 1.75% to 2,281 points.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 7.9 billion, closing at EGP 977.17 billion.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 405.6 million shares exchanged through 42,800 transactions at a turnover of EGP 2.4 billion.

Foreign investors were mostly buyers, netting EGP 54.7 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 23 million and EGP 31.7 million, respectively.
