Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) trimmed early losses, finishing Wednesday in the green territory for the tenth trading session in a row.
The benchmark added 128.93 points, or 1.28%, to settle at 10,225.5 points, which is the highest mark since 24 June 2008.
Global Telecom, Amer Group, Qalaa, Hermes, Eastern Tobacco, OC, Edita, Talaat Moustafa, OT, Palm Hills and Telecom Egypt saw a 2-10% rise.
Meanwhile, CIB, Beltone, Oriental Weaver, and Heliopolis for Housing saw a 0.15-4.5% decline.
The small and mid-cap index increased by 2.44% to 390.31 points.
The broader index moved up 3.24% to 934.28 points and the equal-weighted index was 1.90% higher to 1,538.44 points.
Market capitalization registered the highest mark since 28 May 2015, gaining EGP 8.5 billion to close at EGP 500.7 billion.
Foreign and Arab investors were net buyers by EGP 356.6 million and EGP 15.8 million respectively, while nationals were net sellers by EGP 372.4 million.
Trading value reached EGP 1.89 billion after 741 million shares were traded.
Global Telecom was the most active stock in terms of value after registering EGP 220.6 million for 37.9 million shares changing hands. The stock was 3.33% higher.
Orascom Telecom was the most active in trading volumes with 150.6 million shares traded at more than EGP 100.9 million. The stock rose by 4.55%.
