Cairo bourse gains $426m on foreign, Arab purchases

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange collectively finished Monday’s trading session on a higher note.

Supported by the purchases of Arab and foreign investors, the total market value gained EGP3.78 billion ($425.7 million) ending the session at EGP413.47 billion against EGP109.69 billion yesterday.

The benchmark was pushed above the barrier of 7,600 points to close the session 1.93% higher to 7,662.44 points.

CIB, the largest EGX30 constituent, rose by 4.73% to EGP41.4 registering the most advancing trading value today at EGP146.8 million with 3.6 million shares changing hands over 1.625 transactions.  

The small and mid-cap EGX70 moved 0.18% higher to 380.45 points. The broader index EGX100 ended 0.49% up to 806.77 points. The equal-weighted index EGX50 increased by 1.49% to 1,486.35 points.

Foreigners and Arabs were net buyers by EGP126.1 million and EGP44.3 million respectively, while nationals were net sellers by EGP164.4 million.

Trading value reached EGP897.5 million after 274 million shares were traded.

The top gainers were led by Saudi Egyptian Investment & Finance (+10%), Delta Insurance (+6.95%), Asek Company for Mining (+6.11%), and Misr National Steel-Ataqa (+5.76%).

On the flip side, the top losers were National Cement, OHD, NBK-Egypt, and United Housing & Development with a fall ranging from 9.43% to 4.95%.
