Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Stock Exchange started Thursday's trading session on a stronger note as the benchmark broke the barrier of 6,500 points.
At 10:35am Egypt time, EGX30 added 171 points, or 2.7%, to reach 6,544 points, powered by blue-chip stocks.
CIB, Orascom Telecom, Hermes, Talaat Moustafa Group, Telecom Egypt, Palm Hills rose within the range of 1% and 7.5%.
The equal-weighted EGX50 also opened higher 1.09% to 1,224 points. The small and mid-cap EGX70 edged up 0.40% to 355 points. Likewise, the broader index inched up 0.69% to 735 points.
At 10:35am Egypt time, the market's turnover reached EGP 208 million after 91 million shares were traded over 6,000 transactions.
Foreign investors were net buyers by EGP 14 million, while national and Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 7.7 million and EGP 6.2 million respectively.
