Cairo bourse higher 5% in early trade

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange extended its strong performance on the Egyptian pound flotation to start Monday on a higher note.

By 10:33am Cairo time, the benchmark index EGX30 jumped 487.7 points, or 5.22%, to the mark of 9,837.61 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 rose 1.19% to 369.7 points.

Likewise, the broader index EGX70 and the equal-weighted index EGX50 were higher 1.7% and 2.25% respectively.

Foreign and Arab investors were net buyers by EGP 79.8 million and EGP 12.8 million, while Egyptians were net sellers by EGP 92.6 million.

By category, individuals tended to sell their stocks at a total of EGP 77.7 million, while institutions were net sellers.

The largest EGX30 constituent CIB moved up 6.15% to EGP 62.99 with a turnover of EGP 90.45 million by 10:43am Cairo time.

GB Auto led the gainers with a 9.75 rise, while Suez Canal for Technology Settling was the worst performer with a 9.99% slide.
